  • Egg Freezing Package

Egg Freezing

As a woman ages the number and quality of her eggs declines, making it challenging to become pregnant and/or have a successful pregnancy. Therefore, more and more women are choosing to do egg freezing as a way to preserve their fertility until they find the right partner or are ready to start building a family.

The Process

Women must take hormones for an average of 10 to 12 days, stimulating the ovaries to develop as many mature eggs as possible. For younger women (< age 35) doctors recommend women freeze 15-20 eggs if possible. A surgical procedure with anesthesia is required to retrieve the eggs, and it’s important to know that the ovarian stimulation drugs can have side effects.

The number of eggs and egg quality decline with age so a woman’s age when she freezes her eggs can make a big difference in success rates. The older a woman is when she freezes her eggs, the lower the chances of success with each mature egg that is frozen, and generally older women also have fewer eggs to freeze, so doctors generally don’t recommend egg freezing for women over age 38. Women in their 20’s and 30’s have the most and best quality eggs, and so the highest subsequent pregnancy rates. However, the chance they are going to need to use the eggs later in life is also less, so doctors generally don’t recommend the process for women under age 30.

Egg freezing is usually done either to preserve eggs when a woman is going to undergo treatment for cancer or other disease that could permanently damage or destroy the eggs (e.g. radiation or chemotherapy), or for a woman who does not have a partner and/or does not yet want to get pregnant but wants to preserve her fertility by freezing eggs for future use. Eggs can be kept frozen for many years so that when the woman wants to use the eggs they can be thawed, fertilized with her partner’s sperm (or donor sperm if she has no partner) and the resulting embryo(s) transferred into the uterus, usually 5 days later after the fertilization procedure.

The Cost

Insurance rarely covers egg freezing. Several employers have begun covering the process but coverage remains rare. Additional costs include annual egg storage fees plus the cost of in vitro fertilization (IVF) and embryo transfer when the eggs are eventually used. Most ARC Fertility member clinics offer egg freezing packages, and by using ARC Fertility Financing, patients can access this treatment with an affordable monthly payment plan.

Embryo Freezing

Active treatment of a “fresh” IVF cycle ends when an embryo that has just been created by fertilization is transferred back into the uterus, usually 5 days later. In many cases, additional embryos of good quality are available and can be frozen (embryo freezing) so that they can be used later in a frozen/thaw embryo transfer (FET) cycle, if the patient does not get pregnant with the fresh transfer. Since embryos can remain safely frozen for many years, they can also be transferred after a successful IVF cycle in order to have another child.

Freeze All Cycle

Sometimes, for various reasons, a woman may have a “freeze-all” cycle in which no embryos are replaced fresh and all the embryos are frozen for transfer in subsequent cycle(s).

  • The Tubal Reversal Option

Advanced Reproductive Careis proud to offer a solution to the financial challenges of surgical costs.

The cost of tubal anastomosis (reversal) surgery is a factor that discourages many couples from pursuing this alternative. The participating practice can choose to offer a partial option, which would be professional fees only, or will negotiate a discounted fee with the hospital/surgery center and with the anesthesiologist to offer a total package price. Obstetrical and other medical services are not covered as part of this program.

Definition: A tubal reversal procedure is an operation to reanastomose (“put back together”) fallopian tubes that have been previously burned or cut so that a woman would have permanent contraception. This operation can usually be done as an outpatient procedure. A small incision (bikini cut) is made in the lower abdomen to expose the fallopian tubes. An operating microscope is used to magnify the very small tubes so that they can be carefully reattached with very small suture. The surgery takes about 2 – 3 hours. Pregnancy rates range from 50% to 70% in women under age 40.

  • Donor Egg Packages

What is Egg Donation?

Egg donation is the process by which a woman, who is usually younger, provides eggs (ova, oocytes) to another person and/or partner for purposes of assisted reproduction so that the recipient of the eggs can have a baby with a partner or using donor sperm.

What is the Egg Donation process?

The fertility egg donation process involves retrieving eggs from a woman who has normally functioning ovaries. Following egg retrieval, the eggs are fertilized in the in vitro fertilization (IVF) lab using sperm from the receiving couple’s partner, or in certain situations with donor sperm. Following fertilization in the laboratory and growth of the embryos for either 3 or 5 days, the resulting embryos are transferred to the uterus of the woman who wishes to carry the baby. If a pregnancy is established, the receiving woman becomes the mother carrying the developing baby through the full term of the pregnancy and childbirth – with all the joys of experience that this affords.

With egg donation as an infertility treatment, thousands of couples have become parents with assistance. A couple may choose to know the identity of the woman donating the eggs, and vice versa, or the parties may choose to remain anonymous. Occasionally, a woman will have a younger sister, niece or friend donate eggs for them to use.

What is a Donor Egg Package?

A Donor Egg Treatment Package offers the patient the opportunity to use donated eggs during a cycle of in-vitro fertilization. Most ARC clinics have treatment packages designed for working with an egg donor or using frozen donor eggs from an egg bank. These packages vary in services and price depending on what type of donor (known vs. unknown, proven vs. unproven) and whether or not patients are using frozen eggs from an egg bank. When using a donor egg bank, the cost of the egg lot (including donor compensation and retrieval) is not generally included in the treatment package. Therefore, we have developed the Donor Egg Lot which can be bundled in along with your treatment package.

In addition, We Are offering the nEuploid Embryo Guarantee, this package guarantees at least one Euploid embryo, which has undergone genetic testing. In this program, the sperm will be shipped to an outside lab where the fertilization and genetic testing will take place, the resulting embryo/s will be shipped to your local fertility clinic where the FET (frozen embryo transfer) will take place. You can read more about the guarantee here.

  • Additional Treatment Packages

As a leader in fertility care, We wants to make pregnancy as accessible and easy as possible. For this reason, we offer additional fertility packages tailored to your unique needs. In addition to our IVF treatment packages, many of our participating clinics offer more fertility treatments to help enhance your chances of having a baby. You can also finance some of these additional treatments through our affordable care options. Talk to your fertility doctor to find out if these options are right for you.

Tubal Reversal Option

Advanced Reproductive Care™ is proud to offer a solution to the financial challenges of surgical costs. The cost of tubal anastomosis (reversal) surgery is a factor that discourages many couples from pursuing this alternative.

Male TESA /MESA Package

Testicular sperm aspiration (TESA) and microsurgical epididymal sperm aspiration (MESA) are surgical methods to retrieve sperm from men whose low sperm counts are linked to infertility. This option is often available at clinics that offer sperm aspiration treatment to the male partner. Typically the package will cover the physician’s fee for the procedure. If the procedure is done on-site at the physician’s office, the fee for the facility can often be included. If it is done off-site, payment would be made by the patient to the facility.

PGD/PGS Option

Pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) or preimplantation genetic screening (PGS) is a laboratory procedure that is done prior to transferring embryos created through in vitro fertilization in order to help identify genetic defects within the embryos. The procedure is primarily done to avoid passing on genetic disorders or diseases to a baby. Some fees associated with this procedure can be covered through ARC.

Freeze-all Packages

A Freeze-all package is often done when patients elect PGD or PGS for their embryos.   After testing, the embryos are frozen and used in a frozen embryo transfer cycle at a later time. Many ARC network practices offer this package.

Surrogate/Gestational Carrier Packages

The Gestational Carrier package is available to patients who are unable to carry a baby to term. The treatment option typically covers screening, in addition to monitoring for both the provider of the eggs as well as the gestational carrier. Most of these packages also include a frozen embryo transfer cycle.

Frozen Donor Egg & Donor Embryo Package

Frozen egg and frozen embryo donation is an affordable way to have a baby compared to adoption. This option can also provide value compared to the expense of using a fresh donor. Many ARC network clinics offer egg and embryo donation packages.

Fertility Preservation Package

Patients who are undergoing cancer treatment, including radiation or chemotherapy, may have their fertility compromised from the treatments. They may wish to preserve their fertility through IVF. Because fertility may be compromised through these treatments, the Fertility Preservation packages preserve fertility via IVF. Patients elect to freeze eggs or embryos for future use prior to starting their cancer treatments.
